
4. Do Not plug the square end of the USB cable into the Hawking External modem at this time. You will be instructed to connect the cable in step 17.
5. Power on your computer. 6. Insert the ADSL CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. 7. Double Left Click on your "My Computer" icon. 8. Double Left Click your CD-ROM drive. 9. Double Left Click the "Drivers" folder. 10. Double Left Click the "Setup.exe" file. 11. The "GlobeSpan DSL Modem - Installation" dialog box appears, Double Left Click "Next" at lower right of dialog box. 12. Double Left Click "Yes" to the License Agreement. 13. A "Select ISP" dialog box appears, choose and highlight "Other Service Provider" and Left Click Next 14. The "Select Driver Type" dialog box appears, select "annex-a WAN Driver" and Left Click Next. 15. The "Communication Settings" dialog box appears, for Modulation Left Click the downward black arrow and select G.Lite. 16. Left Click Next; twice and let the files copy to your computer. Then Left Click Finish in the "Setup Complete" dialog box. 17. The "DSL Installer" dialog box appears asking you to plug the USB cable into the Hawking External modem. Plug the USB cable into the modem. Installation will continue, then Left Click Yes to restart your computer when you see the "System Settings Change" dialog box.18. After your Windows Operating System is fully loaded, you may close down any open dialog boxes.
On your System Tray, you should see a two green arrows icon next to your time display. Also, you should see the constant red Link light on the Hawking External modem. Note: If you see a blinking red Link light you will need to call Customer Service at 653-4000 and they will direct your call to a technician. 19. Double Left Click the green double arrows icon from your System Tray. A "GlobeSpan DSL Modem" dialog box appears. 20. Verify that the Link Status indicator is green. If the indicator is grey, you will need to call customer service. 21. Select the "Configuration" tab. Verify that your modulation type is G. Lite, then Left Click OK. 22. Double Left Click your "My Computer" icon from your desktop display. 23. Double Left Click your "Dial-Up Networking" folder. You should see a "GlobeSpan Dial-Up PPP Connection" icon. 24. Double Left Click your "GlobeSpan Dial-Up PPP Connection" icon. You will see a "Connect to" dialog box. 25. Enter your username (ex. Username@ctcn.net) and password using lower case letters, then Left Click the "Connect" button. Optional but recommended: Single Right Click your "GlobeSpan Dial-Up PPP Connection" icon and Single Left Click "Create Shortcut." Left Click Yes. This will put a shortcut of your ADSL Internet connection on your desktop display for easy access. 26. Close out your "Dial-Up Networking" dialog box. You are now connected to the Internet. On your System tray, you should see the two green computers icon next to your time display. * You are now ready to surf the Internet. If you need to configure your IE browser or Outlook Express, please follow the directions provided in your Rural ADSL package.
